The built environment has always been inseparable from the farm and farmer. The buildings, fences, and tools of our rural region were mostly made from local timber, and farmers worked in the winter as woodworkers, building and maintaining their own buildings and those of their neighbors. We continue in that tradition today. Timber is in many ways the most important product of a subsistence farm, and we strive to show that building from local wood with traditional methods is still a viable and economic option. We have been involved in keeping these skills alive and preserving several buildings in the area and building several more.
