Come join us!

We have two different ways to come get involved at the farm: apprenticeship and fellowship.

If you are interested in these skills you know we are a part of a far flung group.

As we rebuild the farm and rediscover these cultural systems there is an enormous amount of hard work to be done and a lot of skill and knowledge we need to re-learn collectively.

The skills of traditional agricultural husbandry and crafts are subtle, they are not easily passed on through plans and diagrams but require hands-on tactile experience.

To help these skills survive we need gathering places where we can live and learn together. We hope Maplegrove can act as a campus for that gathering, where we can join together to talk, meet others with similar interests, and share our ideas and intellectual frameworks as well as our practical skills. Where we can share a common table, the traditions of the agricultural year, friendship, hard work, hot sun, cool water, and our enthusiasm and hope for a brighter future.

Read more about living here. Hear others experience below, or contact us to ask about availability and how to apply.

Apprenticeships

These are short term seasonal residencies for those curious to build new skills, apprentices receive room and board in exchange for helping with some work each day, they also get one on one teaching time to develop particular skills they are interested in.

Farm share fellowships

Fellowships are longer term residencies with more free time for people farther along their path that want time and space to work on particular projects that need more permanence and stability. They may be growing a particular crop or studying some craft practice, or just be folks with general allied interests who want to live at and engage with the farm for a season or a year. We are not able to fund fellowships yet- the farm sharing fellows share the costs of housing and farm upkeep (similar to renting an affordable room in a shared household) in exchange for free use of its land and resources. Local or even on farm supplementary employment is often available.
